Develop a Family Work Plan that includes:
A child behavior change plan, with stimulus control and contingent reinforcements in both home and school environments (see Chapter 12);
A communication skills training plan that will be taught to the couple to improve relationship satisfaction and effective parenting. The plan should include all stages of effective training from a social learning perspective (see Chapter 13).
Gender-sensitive interventions in family members’ roles, responsibilities, mutual expectations, and power sharing (to include interventions discussed in Chapter 11);
Advocacy for the couple addressing macro factors such as a blaming attitude on the part of school personnel, or a tendency to focus on the adoptive father’s point of view due to the adoptive mother’s limited English-speaking skills, or a lack of linkage to needed resources.
Ensure that all goals in your plan are SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-Bound) and that you have identified ways to measure parenting and partnering behaviors at baseline and at completion of work.

Your paper will be graded on the degree to which your behavioral and educational interventions are well constructed and consistent with theory; the degree to which your other interventions reflect a clear understanding of gender-sensitive couples work and advocacy; the degree to which your plan goes beyond the interventions discussed in the case study; and the degree to which all goals are SMART. The plan should be clear on the roles of social worker, parents, child, and school staff members, indicating where support is needed and where the family is empowered to make choices and engage in change.
