There are two (2) parts to this discussion. One part focuses on John Watson and the other focuses on B. F. Skinner. Read each part carefully. For this Discussion Board, complete the following steps:
John Watson believed that differences in learning experiences were resonsible for differences in behavior. He stated: Give me a dozen healthy infants, well-formed, and my own specified world to bring them up in and I’ll guarantee to take any one at random and train him to become any type of specialist I might select- doctor, lawyer, artist, merchant-chief and, yes, even beggar-man and thief, regardless of his talents, penchants, tendencies, abilities, vocations and the race of his ancestors.
In your initial post, thoroughly discuss the following:
Discuss evidence for and against his famous quote. Why might some people have a positive response to this quote and others have a negative response?
Just as Watson believed he could use classical conditioning to control individual differences, Skinner believed he could use operant conditioning to control them. identify important porsocial behaviors that are amenable to operant conditioning. Are there prosocial behaviors that cannot be operantly conditioned? Explain your answer.
