procrastinating less, spending less time on social media, exercising more, etc. After your
behavior is selected, model it by implementing the SMART goal. After you have addressed
each element of SMART, decide on a strategy to successfully achieve the goal. You will have 8
weeks to plan, execute and achieve this goal. Determine how you will assess yourself
throughout the process. List the results of your assessments for comparison. When initiating
your plan, decide on a behavior change theory to guide you through the process. Our second
discussion will cover behavior change theories. Select one of them to model your goal after. If
there are six steps in the model, there should be six steps addressed in your SMART goal.
Identify the steps you took, any expected or unexpected barriers and why you were or were not
successful. Your grade will not be affected if you did not achieve this goal. Determine
strategies to be more effective in the future. You will be graded on your SMART model,
assessment process and behavior change theory and plan.
The assignment should contain a minimum of four paragraphs. In the opening paragraph,
identify the goal you are planning to achieve. Model that goal using SMART, and identifying the
Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Timely parameters. The second paragraph will
identify strategies and behavior theories you will use to achieve your goal. The third paragraph
will list a weekly assessment to compare to the previous week. Record your weekly progress
and include it in your paper. How will you assess progress to compare your results over the
given eight week period? The final paragraph will provide feedback and reflection on your initial
goal. Identify whether or not your goal was achieved, any barriers (anticipated and
unanticipated) you faced and how you can continue to improve this goal in the future.
