~When I was reading about Skepticism and the Descartes method, the concept of the skeptical approach really caught my attention. The idea of “questioning everything” has always made me feel really unsettled, and I know that it’s something a lot of people put into practice even today. I can see this concept being something positive if I look at it through the lens of research and people being open to doing their own research before mindlessly following the crowd. Being able to research a political party or a religion, for example, before deciding to follow it just because your family decides to. I can also see this concept being more controversial because it reminds me of modern-day conspiracy theories. Many times people will use the excuse of “questioning everything” when they’re simply denying science and fact. If the process of systematic doubt is used practically, I can see it being a great way to learn.
