IMPORTANT BEFORE STARTING: Realize most of us at one point or another will work for or own a small business. Franchises, nonprofits and corporations are businesses with a different structure. To make this realistic, you will be using a small business mindset to develop your marketing plan (not a franchise or nonprofit). You will have a marketing budget of $6000 for a year and must decide what is best for your company. Think of a well-known small company you would like to see grow (maybe a local one) and use it as your concept. For instance, a local florist with 2 employees. This will give you a base for your ideas and some branding that is established.
Do not copy what the company already does for marketing, rather think in terms of what would create more excitement which equals bigger profits or a different path or a different product or a new way to market something existing. This is a marketing pitch to increase their profits! You are telling them what they need to do to improve next year’s bottom line by your marketing strategies.
