The qualitative research article was on the study to examine how researchers question the ethical concerns developed by people with learning disabilities, their carers , and care-workers. The involvement of people with learning disabilities in research to improve health promotion has been neglected. However, people with learning disabilities are a significant “minority” for whom it is realistic to plan a health promotion strategy. According to the Researcher, It has been argued that people with learning disabilities have a poor understanding of health and are aware that they are seldom asked about their health. Negative stereotyping and denial of self-efficacy of people with learning disabilities exacerbate the problems faced by service users. It has also been proposed that care workers should be trained to comply with the rules in the same way as service users. Besides insufficient awareness of health care, the active involvement of service providers and carers in developing healthy lifestyles is essential to bring about behavioral change, as professional advice alone has been shown to have little or no impact. (Young, 2008)
According to the article, little is known about people with learning disabilities and their perception of health and illness. The researcher studied the feasibility of involving service providers and caregivers in developing research topics that should focus specifically on reducing health risks for people with learning disabilities. Inclusion was considered essential at the start of the research cycle to ensure that the process was consumer-oriented. The study developed a partnership between people with learning disabilities, carers, care-workers, and researchers to identify research priorities. (Young, 2008)
