Exam Style: Focus should be on clear, concise and precise answers. The vast majority of a very good answer will be based on module material. Simple and clear explanation of theory. Simple and clear discussion of of trends and changes of time in data if relevant. Clear and complete explanation of changes in figures.
Exam Style II: Answers should include a clear structure. Introductions should include an outline of the key themes/sections/topics you will discuss in your essay and your main thesis. Include a short conclusion.
Exam Style III: Write in sentences. DO NOT use shorthand notation: Exam Style IV: Include figures when requested and relevant. Label axes and curves. On figures, shorthand notation for labelling is fine e.g. Y/AN and K/AN on Solow model axes. Do not write accompanying sentences on figures, explain key changes in figures in the text.
Exam Style V: Draw your own figures. Do not copy them from the lecture videos or the textbook. You may have a method to draw diagram digitally. If not, you can draw them by hand and take a photograph, then add the pictures to your word document in the relevant place.
Exam Referencing: unless otherwise stated, you do not need to include in-text references of lecture material or the textbook unless it is a direct quote (so easiest just to avoid direct quotes!). There should not be a reference list. Say you have read something relevant, there is no harm in adding a reference or two into the text only e.g. for a lockdown question, “As argued by Blanchard (2020) in his Covid chapter x, y, and z are important.”
