Write a synopsis of a felony crime. The offense must be one of the eight Part I Crimes as defined by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) under UCR (Uniformed Crime Reporting). These crimes include: Murder, Forcible Rape, Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Burglary, Motor Vehicle Theft, Larceny-Theft, and Arson. For more about the characteristics of these crimes, click on the following link to visit the FBI website.
You should limit the number of offenders and victims to no more than two each. However, there is no restriction on the number of witnesses you can write into your scenario.
In your synopsis include at least three appropriate criminal justice terms (such as felony, misdemeanor, etc.) from reading, class lectures, or other outside sources. Bold these three terms so your instructor will know you have used three new terms for this scenario. Your synopsis must explain why this case is a criminal case, not a civil case. Why is this crime a felony and not a misdemeanor? Who has jurisdiction over this case and why? Why did you create this particular case to track through the justice continuum?
Hint: Avoid future details such as reporting the crime, investigation, arrest, and court proceedings. You will be adding those pieces to future parts of the scenario.
Write to purpose, there is no word count or page length requirement; however, you are expected to fully address the above information with detailed information.
