The surgeon also recommends a bi-lateral oophorectomy stating to the patient she no longer needs her ovaries because they do not produce any hormones after menopause and this would decrease her risk of ovarian cancer. The patient has no family history of ovarian or breast cancer, however there is family history of pancreatic cancer. Do a women’s ovaries produce hormones after menopause?
