1. What are ways to mitigate the impact of emissions that we create from all forms of transportation? This is an open minded question, as perspective and/or academic sources can be used?
In my opinion there are many things that can be done to mitigate emissions in transportation. From gasoline and diesel engines there can be many things to cut the way emissions are processed. Electric vehicles, however, I really see them also contributing to emissions in a different way. Batteries have to be thrown away in a specific manner, so how is it that a “ Battery powered Vehicle” is safe for the environment when there is almost zero control in regards. In an article I found. If the energy sources it draws from are more carbon-intensive than the energy sources it competes against, then it will have the effect of increasing the carbon intensity of the overall power mix. Say a battery bank absorbs cheap energy being produced by coal plants overnight and then discharges it in the day, competing with natural gas combined-cycle (NGCC) plants. The net effect will be to favor coal against natural gas, thus increasing net emissions. (Roberts 2018)
How can renewable energy be used in transportation?
Hybrid cars and buses become up to 30 percent more fuel efficient than conventional combustion vehicles in urban settings. However, it’s not just cars and buses that are reaping benefits from green energy. One thing can be focused is using electric vehicles for many companies who deliver. UPS, FedEx, Amazon, any company that has a high quantity and demand, reallocate their fleet to better sustainable emissions practices.
3. What is the environmental impact of renewable energy?
I feel there are many different impacts in which renewable energy can affect the global output. Redistributing wealth can affect the way the earth is responsive. I do not have any kids yet, but I feel that it would be beneficial for me to focus on the safety of the air, Water, and oxygen output to stop deforestation.
4. What is the effect of transportation on the economy?
When transport is efficient, the potential market for a given product (or service) increases, and so does competition. In logistical views, transport is a huge proponent into the way business is run. We have seen the way Covid 19 has affected many business’s while also aiding many as well. With transportation a wider array of goods and services becomes available to consumers through competition, which tends to reduce costs and promote quality and innovation.(Nat Geo 2019)
5. What is Fracking?
Fracking is the process of injecting liquid at high pressure into subterranean rocks, boreholes, etc. so as to force open existing fissures and extract oil or gas.

Here is a YouTube Video that explains Fracking.

What are ways to mitigate the impact of emissions that we create from all forms of transportation? This is an open minded question, as perspective and/or academic sources can be used?
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (2017), the most-recommended ways to reduce your emissions from vehicles are 1) Drive less (fewer trips, more public transit); 2) Drive wise (efficient acceleration; good maintenance; 3) Choose a Fuel Efficient Vehicle (hybrid, plugin); 4) Don’t Idle (turn off if stopped); and 5) Optimize Home Deliveries (combine packages) (EPA, 2017).
How can renewable energy be used in transportation
Busses and other vehicles can be built or retrofitted to run on renewable energy sources such as electric motors. “BAE Systems, a world leader in electric propulsion systems, announced its selection by New York City Transit Authority to supply 435 electric hybrid power and propulsion systems for its new fleet of transit buses, reducing carbon emissions and fuel consumption” (BAE, 2020).
What is the environmental impact of renewable energy?
The electric motors in the 12,000 busses that BAE operates globally “help to save more than 25 million gallons of fuel and more than 300,000 tons of CO² from entering the earth’s atmosphere” (BAE, 2020).
What is the effect of transportation on the economy?
National Geographic (2019) shares the historical perspective, stating “The ability to transport goods and human beings safely and efficiently across long distances is fundamental to economic life in modern societies.” This allowed producers to expand their market reach, selling in distant and more lucrative markets; it also allowed people to move more freely, making it easier and faster to develop cities.
What is Fracking?
Fracking, or hydraulic fracturing, as everyone else has noted, is the process of injecting water, sand, and chemicals into oil shales (rocks) to crack them open, releasing the oil within to flow up into a well (BBC News, 2018). The process provides economical access to previously difficult-to-access oil reserves, but uses significant amounts of water and risks leakage of toxic chemicals used in the process; there is also a risk of increasing earthquakes near the site (ibid.)

What are ways to mitigate the impact of emissions that we create from all forms of transportation?
I believe the best way to mitigate is for regulation to be involved. Regulation puts pressure on corporations to color under the new guidelines. But I think the federal Government has to help corporations get there. The reason I think that is because I believe that a more stringent date needs to be set. The world has been debating long enough and we already have data pointing that renewable energy is growing in other countries that are limited on natural resources.
How can renewable energy be used in transportation?
I believe that solar could solve a large portion of the problems in transportation. The public sector should be mandated to use renewable energy now. You also have hybrid technology and features that are starting to shine. I believe that battery powered busses with their own solar panels on the roof to further keep charging if the weather permits can be a huge dent into the problem. Also, in urban area’s solar panels should be incorporated into the sky line. Oil should be looked at as a backup resource. The IEA has consistently under-estimated solar. In 2000, it predicted the world’s solar capacity would quadruple over the course of the next 15 years. In reality, it took just five. (Mathiesen, 2016, para. 6) I believe private and federal money needs to be used. The main problem with going all in on solar in this capacity is infrastructure. Yan Qin, a senior modelling analyst at Reuters said, the main grids infrastructure, which was built to carry fairly consistent levels of generation will struggle to cope with the variability of solar and wind energy. (Mathiesen, 2016, para 11) There is more logistics in the change, it’s not as simple as putting solar panels on buildings for sure.
What is the environmental impact of renewable energy?
I won’t go into the numerous positive impacts because I think we all understand that. I will share this. Renewable forms of energy like solar, wind, hydropower, ocean, geothermal, and biofuels are not completely environment friendly, since they do have their impacts on biodiversity, soil, aquatic environments, marine life, air quality, and even human health. (Mazhar & Zia, 2019, Chapter 12)
What is the effect of transportation on the economy?
The ability to transport goods and human beings safely and efficiently across long distances is fundamental to economic life in modern societies. (National Geographic Society, 2019, para. 1) This article gives a history of the impact of transportation expansion and the effects on the economy in the 1900’s.
What is fracking?
Fracking is another method of getting natural resources out of the ground by blasting rock with sandy water to mine the natural gas and oil. I think it’s environmentally risky and the threat is on our lands. My mind thinks that if they can’t safely transport oil on huge ships across known waters without a mishap, how can they safely frack which in my mind sounds harder to contain waste and the product their after.
